2001 MEETING INFORMATION

In 2001 our membership was 100 strong.  The KYILG conducted three seminars for members; two half-day sessions and one Annual meeting in October.  The seminar topics included:

Best Practices Session from Ken Johnson, former executive with Lexmark.  This session dealt with the Corporate Review Audit for employers over 1000 employees.

Robert Brown, Assistant District Director, Department of Labor, OFCCP.  Mr. Brown discussed the new regulations and how they will affect organizations in Kentucky.

John Tysse, a partner in the Washington D.C. law firm of McGuiness and Williams, gave a legislative update in areas regarding employment law and federal government relations matters. As part of his practice, Mr. Tysse serves as Legislative Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of the Equal Employment Advisory Council (EEAC).

Mary Ellen Harned, Director of the Access Center Partnership in Louisville gave a presentation to promote a positive response to the Americans with Disabilities Act when employing individuals.  Ms. Harned gave several interesting case studies on the successes and challenges of employing individuals with disabilities.

Debbie Chandler has been an Employment Specialist with the Kentucky Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for over 14 years.  She shared her own experiences working with clients who have emotional disabilities and assisting them with reasonable accommodations.
